The Uganda Consulate in Guangzhou- China has used this year’s Christmas celebration to showcase Uganda’s tourism potential to the outside world.
Ms Judyth Nsababera used last Friday’s Christmas party dubbed “Silverback Christmas” which attracted more than 200 guests from the tourism, hospitality, and business, to showcase Uganda’s rich cultural heritage and natural wonders.
The event, which specifically focused on the Silverback gorilla, was meant to raise awareness about the importance of protecting wildlife.
“This is a moment to embrace the spirit of home, family, and conservation. To encounter these gentle giants in their natural habitat is magical. The significance of today’s gathering is not just a holiday celebration but an opportunity to highlight Uganda’s unique treasures,” she told her guests.
The event, which entailed a video presentation of the breathtaking Ugandan landscapes and cultures transported the guests to the lush terrains of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park.
This was guided by John Tugumisirize, a Uganda Wildlife ranger, who has worked as a trekker in Bwindi for 13 years.
During the celebrations, Ms Nsababera paid tribute to Dr Gladys Kalema-Zikusooka, a prominent conservationist and advocate for wildlife protection, whose efforts have made an impact on Uganda’s environmental landscape.
She described Dr Kalema’s dedication as a legacy of love and care that will transcend future generations.
