Her Royal Highness, the Nnaabagereka, Queen Sylvia of Buganda
CTPH Patron is Her Royal Highness, the Nnaabagereka, Queen Sylvia of Buganda. She became patron of CTPH in 2005 following a visit Bwindi to launch the CTPH programs in parishes around Bwindi Impenetrable National Park as well as track the endangered mountain gorillas. She became the first queen in the world to track the mountain gorillas, where she named an infant gorilla, from the Habinyanja Gorilla Group, Ntuuse meaning I have arrived. Queen Sylvia is an advocate for women and girls, conservation and culture, and improving health in Uganda. The Nnaabagereka is a Goodwill Ambassador for UNFPA, where she advocates for girls’ education. She is also involved with the Forum for African Women Educationalists that bridges the gap within the education system for women at all levels. CTPH Founder and CEO, in 1999, was recognized as a role model for girls and awarded a Medal of Excellence from FAWE.
