The Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Assistant will:

  1. Support M&E Frameworks/System:
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of M&E frameworks and systems in line with CTPH’s minimum operational procedures for MEAL (Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning) policy.
  • Support in establishing the Monitoring and Evaluation frameworks for CTPH and Gorilla Conservation Coffee (GCC), a CTPH social enterprise.
  1. Data Collection and Management:
  • Participate in field data collection activities and expand the use of mobile data collection systems.
  • Support data entry, storage, and management for CTPH databases, including Gorilla lab results, camp visitor records, Village Health and Conservation Teams (VHCT) data, and research volunteer information.
  1. Data Analysis and Reporting:
  • Assist in data analysis using statistical software like SPSS and Advanced Excel.
  • Contribute to monthly and quarterly reporting, focusing on the aggregation of outputs and outcomes for proposal development.
  • Support the drafting of impact monitoring reports for both internal and donor use.
  1. Training and Capacity Building:
  • Facilitate training sessions for data collectors (VHCTs) relevant to M&E activities.
  • Participate in workshops and training within and outside the organization as needed.
  1. Field Monitoring:
  • Support the M&E Coordinator in conducting field-monitoring missions to assess project progress using standard M&E tools and methodologies.
  1. Dissemination of Findings:
  • Assist in the dissemination of monitoring and evaluation findings to the field team and other relevant stakeholders.
  1. Support Donor and Communications Activities:
  • Support the Communications Officers in maintaining individual donor databases.
  • Help compile human stories to enhance the visibility of projects.
  1. Additional Responsibilities:
  • Undertake any other assignments as requested or delegated by the M&E Coordinator or other CTPH management staff.

Preferred Professional Qualifications, Experience and Characteristics

 

  • Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Quantitative Economics, or a related field.
  • At least 1 year of working experience in monitoring and evaluation or a related field.
  • Knowledge about biostatistics is an added advantage.
  • Proficiency in more than one Ugandan language is desirable.
  • Skills/Experience:
  • Strong proficiency in statistical software such as Kobo toolkit, SPSS and advanced Excel.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative.
  • Strong data management and analysis skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Proficient in IT, with strong skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

2. Community Health and Conservation Field Officer

to support in the implementation of field activities in communities surrounding Bwindi Impenetrable National
Park (BINP).

The Community Health and Conservation Field Officer will:


Lead implementation of CTPH community field programs, in collaboration and consultation with
supervisors and team members.
Oversee and provide guidance for CTPH community volunteer cadres
Manage and/or recruit community volunteers including Human and Gorilla Conflict Resolution Teams
(HUGOs-Gorilla Guardians) or Community Wildlife Scouts.
Participate in recruitment of Village Health and Conservation Teams (VHCTs), in collaboration with
MOH.
Supervise the work of Village Health and Conservation Teams (VHCTs) working with CTPH in
behavior change communication data collection and family planning·
Support monitoring and evaluation of the data collected by VHCTs, and link them to the health centers,
including for supporting referrals and replenishment of medical supplies.
Train VHCTs to deliver community health services and conservation education, in line with CTPH’s
mandate and trainings.
Participate in training of Human and Gorilla Conflict Resolution Teams (HUGOs-Gorilla Guardians)
and other community resource persons reducing human and wildlife conflict.
Engage Reformed Poachers in meaningful alternative livelihoods.
Support VHCTs, and HUGOs to create group income generating projects and establish Village Saving
and Loan Associations (VSLAs).
Attend VHCT and HUGO VSLA meetings and provide the relevant support in monitoring and
evaluation of their outputs and outcomes through data collection, home visits and quarterly meetings.
Work with the CTPH Veterinary team to support the Community Animal Health Workers.
Implement the Impenetrable Kids League Model and other conservation education programs in
schools.
Participate in One Health research to support CTPH field programs.
Provide logistical and mentoring support, where needed, to CTPH visitors in the field including
volunteers, practitioners, students, researchers, donors and the general public.
Communicate CTPH vision, mission, mandate and approach clearly and effectively to all stakeholders
Implement activities based on project work plans and budgets, as agreed with supervisors.
Be the link between the community, local partners and CTPH on issues regarding conservation,
community health and livelihoods improvement.
Support any other CTPH / GCCoffee projects and programs, as needed and requested.

Preferred Professional Qualifications, Experience and Characteristics


A degree in Public Health, Social Sciences, Community Development, Social Work, Conservation or a
related field from a recognized University and a minimum of two years’ experience working in a
related field.
Knowledge of conservation and protected area management is an added advantage.
Knowledge of public health is an added advantage.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Team player requiring minimal supervision
Experience working effectively with diverse stakeholders including the government and NGOs.
Experience in working with local communities.
Computer literacy (micro soft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)

The Grants and Fundraising Officer will:

  • Work closely with, and under the guidance and supervision of, the Development Director to develop winning grants, proposals, concept notes, letters of interest and business plans
  • Collaborate effectively with other team members to gain input and insights for effective proposal development (Programmes and field teams, M&E, finance, communications & media, research and laboratory, amongst others)
  • Research prospective donors and search for funding opportunities proactively, providing feedback for team member input into available funding opportunities
  • Identify appropriate donors and funders which align with CTPH’s values and strategy
  • Coordinate other proposal application requirements including compiling relevant supporting documents and updating online databases, as needed
  • Draft covering emails, support letters and other communication as needed
  • Manage, collaboratively, a database of grant proposals
  • Manage systems and software to identify prospective donors and funders
  • Re-work proposals in line with supervisor, CEO and team member feedback
  • Support translation of grants into implementation documents and plans, including communicating key donor information and requirements, as needed
  • Support individual donor stewardship, as needed and requested

 

  • Support in budget monitoring for all grants and ensuring compliance with donor rules and regulations
  • Support communications and media department as needed and requested
  • Support other departments and provide engaged and timely input and contributions, as needed, as a member of the CTPH team
  • Other tasks as may be

 

Professional Qualifications, Experience and Characteristics

  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • A master’s degree is an advantage
  • Fundraising / grants writing experience
  • Excellent English writing and communication skills
  • Ideally, experience in conservation, health, community development and / or One Health programming
  • Understanding of NGO, government and other stakeholder landscapes in Uganda and Africa preferred
  • Ability and willingness to learn
  • Commitment to transparency and integrity
  • Proficiency in mainstream computer programs (word, excel, presentation software).
